What is Floodlight? Floodlight is an open source civic technology initiative of Code for Pakistan, supported by the CO2 Foundation. It strengthens flood preparedness and climate resilience by combining community reported flood data, open mapping, and institutional datasets to create actionable, hyperlocal insights for citizens, responders, and decision makers. Early pilots proved demand and relevance, while also surfacing clear technical and governance gaps that must be addressed for scale. Format: One day focused hackathon in an auditorium setting Participants: Approximately 50 professionals and programmers including developers, GIS experts, data scientists, climate and air quality specialists, designers, disaster practitioners, and policy thinkers Participants will work on clearly defined problem statements drawn from Floodlight's real expansion challenges. Teams will be required to propose technically feasible solutions, an implementation roadmap, and a conservative budget. This is designed to move beyond ideas to execution ready plans. The winning team or individual will be invited to formally join the Floodlight team for one year, ensuring continuity and real adoption of outcomes.
